Join us for our annual Hoedown this Friday, November 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Holmes Lounge! As the leaves start to change, the days get shorter, and harvest season comes to a close, what more could you want than an evening of quality music and quality dancing?

Join the Burning Kumquat for a lively night as we welcome bluegrass band The Traveling Waves to teach us the basics of square dancing. There will be a photobooth, and we will also be serving pumpkin bars and hot cider to fulfill your warm autumnal cravings.

So whip out that flannel and those overalls, and swing on over to Holmes Lounge for a jolly good time dancing the night away!

Food Week 2016: Tea n Mugs Skillshare, Compost Container Skillshare, Harvest Festival Market Stand

Join the Burning Kumquat for a Tea n Mugs Skillshare on Thursday, October 27 at 5 pm to 6 pm on the Burning Kumquat Farm. We will be making tea bags from herbs we harvested at the farm and enjoying tea!

We will also be hosting a Compost Container Skillshare on the farm on Friday, October 28.

On Friday, October 28, we will be hosting a Harvest Festival on the Swamp of the South 40 on Friday, October 28, at 12:30 to 5 pm. The event will feature local farmers and community vendors, live music, and skill shares by student groups

These events are part of Food Week 2016, which occurs from Monday, October 24 to Friday, October 28, hosted by the WashU Office of Sustainability.


Dessert Potluck and Evening Bonfire


Join us this Thursday, September 22 at 7 pm at the Burning Kumquat farm for our first big event of the year! The evening will star banana s’mores and also feature veggie poetry, earthy tunes, and roasted sunchokes. Bring some dessert to share with some fellow earth-lovers and if you want a sleeping bag for comfort. See you soon!

Screen Printing and Seed Bomb Workshop

We will be having a screen printing and seed bomb workshop Tuesday, April 12 from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Dardick Seminar Room on the South 40.

In the screen printing workshop, we will be printing Burning Kumquat designs on T-shirts, tote bags, and anything else you want the designs on. seed bombPlease bring your own T-shirt or other material (fabrics, clothing, etc.) you want to screen print on.

We will also be making marigold seed bombs, which you can bring home to plant.


Food and Agriculture talk


We have a talk food and agriculture on Wednesday, November 18 in DUC 248 from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. We’re going to hear from a history professor and several anthropology graduate students about their projects in food and agriculture. We’ll also be enjoying some arugula pesto and a smattering of our BK-grown veggies!



Join us and lots of other WashU students for our annual hoedown Friday, November 6, at 7:00pm in Holmes Lounge. The Burning Kumquat will be hosting a night of square dancing, live music by The Traveling Waves, and fall festivities such as apple bobbing, arts and crafts and of course, vegetable puns.
